Hospitality Designers Partner with Designtex & 3Form for IIDA Product Runway.

Pittsburgh, PA – DRS Architects: Hospitality Designers Partner with Designtex & 3Form for IIDA Product Runway.

On Friday, October 6th, IIDA PAINJIDE rolled out the red carpet for their Product Runway 2017 at the Hotel Monaco by Kimpton in Pittsburgh. This year’s runway theme was the Silver Screen and eleven teams each consisting of local designers, A&D product representatives, a seamstress and a model created costume designs inspired by unforgettable characters.

TEAM CLEO was a unique group in the competition, consisting of a friendly partnership of hospitality designers: Will Michael, DRS Architects; Terry Cumberledge, Cumberledge Design Group and Melissa Rees, Then Design Architecture. Partnered with Duane Cardemone of Designtex and Karen Newman of 3Form, the design team was inspired by Cleopatra, the golden Goddess of the Silver Screen. Careful selection of the glamorous metallic palette of materials from Designtex and 3Form became the medium for Karen Cumberledge to show-off her amazing sewing talents in an original creation for team model, Melissa Rees, to take command of the runway set to the music of Beyonce’s Grown Woman, just as Cleopatra herself would have done.

The guest panel of judges included Chancelor Humphrey, a photographer and creator of Keep Pittsburgh Dope; Joseph Orlando, president of Joseph Orlando Gentleman’s Clothier and Sarah, a fashion designer with New York & Company.

The teams competed for awards such as On Trend (the most fashion forward and ready-to-wear ensemble), Best Performance (individual with the most captivating performance on the runway), Silver Screen Worthy (best storytelling, emotion evoking persona worthy of the Silver Screen) and The People’s Choice Award.

TEAM CLEO, a great partnership among friends, was honored with The People’s Choice Award!
