Pittsburgh, PA – DRS Architects: The DRS Book Club.
About every six weeks since 2013, a group of DRS women have gathered over lunch to pore over a book, discuss plots and characters, and rate our latest pick. The selection of that book has been rotated among the members, which causes each of us to read books that we might not otherwise have read. It’s been engaging reading.
We’ve read a wide variety, including:
Architectural historical fiction: The Devil in the White City by Erik Larsen
Non-fiction: Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof
Podcast: Serial by Sarah Koenig
Comedy: Yes Please by Amy Poehler
A book about books: The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
Futuristic: Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
Slavery and Abolition: The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd
Parallel Universe: The Post Birthday World by Lionel Shriver
WWII: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
Our next pick? Ashley Solomon, who peruses each selection with amazing attention to detail, has chosen The Holding by Norton Graham which she describes as “an Irish murder mystery”. Could be a fatal fascination; we’ll let you know.
