Pittsburgh, PA – DRS Architects: CANstruction Pittsburgh, 2017.
This year, DRS participated in the annual CANstruction Pittsburgh event held at the Mall at Robinson. What’s CANstruction, you ask? It’s a fantastic way to engage the A/E/C industry in supporting the neighborhoods in which we live, work, and play while doing our part to reduce hunger in our region.
Events are held around the globe, all for the same, good cause. More information about the event can be found here. And if you’re truly inspired, feel free to visit our crowdfunding page and donate—it’s never too late to make a positive impact and all proceeds directly benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Area Food Bank!
This year’s theme was “Food for Thought,” and after several meetings, chain emails and no shortage of double entendre, we decided to answer the age-old question ‘which came first,’ once and for all. In total our sculpture used more than 3200 cans which were generously provided with funds from more than 23 individual donors, businesses and organizations. When they say it takes a village, they weren’t lying.
Build-out day has come and gone, but all sculptures will remain on display until the end of the month.
Personally, we had a blast doing this and expect to be back next year to defend our title of “Reigning CANpion.”
